Author's POV

Srinivas and Saraswati were having a talk when Karthik came downstairs in the living room. "Karthik, wait," said Saraswati as she saw Karthik who was about to head out for jogging. Karthik halted his steps and turned towards his parents.

"We want to talk to you," said Mom. Karthik took a seat near them. Saraswati eyed Srinivas to start the conversation. Srinivas cleared his throat and said, "We are ready to accept your relationship with Naina."

But his mother was not truly happy with this but she kept a smile for him.

They knew Naina and her family to be greedy and selfish people who could cross any limit for their profit, they loved fame , power and money , and wouldn't think twice before doing anything wrong for these .

They were also well aware of Naina's rude and mean nature. She was not polite with people she considered poor and was a spoiled brat infamous for her affairs. Despite their disapproval, they agreed to Karthik's relationship for Karthik as they didn't want to force their decision on Karthik.

Karthik's POV

What, they are ready, am I hearing correct? It took me a minute to register what I heard just now!

"Okay," I replied shortly. I know I should feel happy, but I am not able to feel anything right now. I can see my parents' emotions on their faces. They are not happy but trying to smile for me.

My parents don't like Naina; they never did. I know Naina Mathur is not a person to be liked either. She is not sweet; instead, she is mean and rude to people sometimes. But in front of me, she always acts sweet.

But I know the reality. Then why are you marrying her? Because she is my friend, and at least fits in my world in my world. So it's better to marry her as I don't have time to waste on things like love and all. I will be busy in stupid things like going to take over my father's company.

"Are you listening?" I heard my father saying something.

"Yeah, what were you saying?" I said. My father sighed and repeated what he was saying earlier. "We will meet her family this Sunday, is it okay with you both?"

"Yeah, it's fine with me," I said.

I got up and went for jogging.

I was on my flight to Mumbai. As I sat in my seat, I couldn't help but think about the upcoming meeting with Naina .

I was on my way to her apartment to tell her about this news. She has no idea about my arrival, it is a surprise for her. This is the first time I am doing this kind of things for her. I have decided to take few steps for our relationship as we are getting married .

I remembered the day we first agreed to this arrangement. It was a purely transactional deal. Naina's father was a Mumbai-based businessman who had a major stake in a company that I was interested in, and he also had a few shares in my father's company.  And being in a relationship with Naina will give me an advantage in my buisness.

I stood in front of her apartment, holding a bouquet in my hand. This was the first time in one year of our relationship that I was doing this. All we did was hugs and a few kisses, nothing more.

I was overwhelmed. I was not able to understand my own emotions, and keeping all these feelings aside, I opened the apartment door entering the passcode.

The apartment was silent with a few whisper sounds. Someone was laughing as I entered the living room. I was shocked to see the scene in front of my eyes.
